When discussing the origin of mankind and the nature of existence, there are basically two world views. Either all things are physical, and therefore scientifically testable, or there are things we cannot see and test that are beyond the physical world, also known as the supernatural. Science can only explain things that are physical, because the scientific method doesn't deal in abstract things like personalities, state boundaries, and morality, yet we know that they exist as nonphysical structures. Public schools have placed the topic of origins in the Biology classroom. Biology is science, and, therefore, supernatural origins scenarios are excluded by definition of science. Purpose and design are abstract, unobservable notions. Because the science of engineering has been successful, many adopt the biological origins package with all supernatural speculations removed. There are many things that are not physical, yet we know they exist. Love is an example. Numbers are logically discerned, not observed. Limiting knowledge to only things that are physically testable is not smart, and if we limit ourselves only to scientific knowledge, we will miss out on abstract things like motive. There are a few fields of study that deal in the supernatural. Theology is one. We know that there is truth to be found there, but we don't currently have an absolute method like the scientific method for collecting it. Another field that obviously contains some truth, yet cannot be proven scientifically is that of history. We can't scientifically prove what we ate for breakfast two years ago today, but if we have a dated record, we can accept the historical claim without using science and without any doubt. What is the best method for determining the origin of mankind, science or history? Can we repeat the experiment?
It's not if we draw the line for faith, but where. Augustine said:
"Still, from this time forward, I began to prefer the Catholic doctrine. I felt that it was with moderation and honesty that it commanded things to be believed that were not demonstrated -- whether they could be demonstrated, but not to everyone, or whether they could not be demonstrated at all. [...] thou didst persuade me that, if I took into account the multitude of things I had never seen, nor been present when they were enacted -- such as many of the events of secular history; and the numerous reports of places and cities which I had not seen; or such as my relations with many friends, or physicians, or with these men and those -- that unless we should believe, we should do nothing at all in this life. Finally, I was impressed with what an unalterable assurance I believed which two people were my parents, though this was impossible for me to know otherwise than by hearsay. By bringing all this into my consideration, thou didst persuade me that it was not the ones who believed thy books -- which with so great authority thou hast established among nearly all nations -- but those who did not believe them who were to be blamed." ~ Confessions of Augustine, book 6, ch. 5.
History is sometimes more reliable than the sciences. A crime can be investigated without regard to testimony, but testimony helps to solve a crime. When we're dealing with past events, science can surely shine light on what actually happened, and it can root out lies and manipulations, but history is not a scientific field. When we look at our past, we need to keep in mind what historians have written down for posterity.
All that was a preparation for this. The reason we should reject the theory taught in public schools is this. There are genealogies from Noah to the kings of Europe and elsewhere. You can't be descended from Noah unless he really existed in the physical realm. The nations that settled the Mediterranean region were named after men and women, their ancestors, and those men and women were sometimes deified (made into gods) by those who survived them. This isn't speculation on my part, but it's written as plainly in history as I'm writing it here. Discovering man's origin according to history will take a little effort on your part, but it's worth it! The reason why you should reject the Theory of Evolution is because it contradicts history.
